Secretary Luis Lucero Government of Argentina
The inaugural World Lithium Conference brought the lithium industry to Santiago, co-located with the World Copper Conference during CESCO Week. In one trip to Chile—the world’s largest lithium production hub—participants heard directly from senior industry leaders and gained a first-hand view of lithium production, from brine extraction through to refining and direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology.
The programme opened with a keynote address from Argentina’s Mining Secretary, Luis Lucero, who outlined the country’s growing role in global lithium supply and its project investment pipeline.
Major industry keynotes followed from Carlos Díaz, Chief Executive Officer of Novandino Lithium, and Sebastián Carmona, Vice President and Regional Leader for Latin America at Albemarle, covering production growth, sustainability, water efficiency and the development of DLE in the region.
Lively panel discussions explored responsible production, investment conditions, innovation and the practical realities of scaling new extraction technologies.
Delegates also visited Summit Nanotech’s DLE demonstration facility in Santiago, before travelling to the Salar de Atacama and Novandino Lithium’s Antofagasta refinery. Together, these visits provided a rare end-to-end perspective on how Chilean brines are extracted, processed and refined into battery-grade lithium products.
Don’t miss your opportunity to join the global lithium community in Santiago for the next World Lithium Conference. Meet the decision-makers shaping supply, technology, investment and policy; build connections across the value chain; and experience Chile’s lithium industry at the centre of global production.
